Game Preview: Towson Generals vs. Perry Hall Gators
This Saturday, the Towson Generals host the Perry Hall Gators for both team’s second game of the season.
The Towson Generals look to recover from a tough game last week at Patapsco, where they lost 18-12 in overtime. Towson head coach Kelly Bryant is ready to move forward “[Patapsco] fought hard. We learned things from this loss you know, so we just got to take it in stride and move on.”
According to Bryant, the team has spent the last week working on how to start strong in the first quarter “Intensity has been the word, we've gotta be high intensity all game long from the start to the finish.” The Generals have also put an increased focus on making tackles in space in preparation for the Gators rushing attack “Perry Hall is very athletic so they must be respected in that way, so we gotta make sure we tackle accurately and decisively.”
One bright spot for Towson in last week’s loss was star running back Shamar Molock who recorded eight rushes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. According to Bryant, defensive end Jonah Wilson is another player to watch out for this week.
Expectations are high for Perry Hall after a stunning victory against Lansdowne last week, where the Gators trumped the Vikings 42-0.
Perry Hall coach Rocco Bruno was excited to start the season with a victory “we have a very good nucleus, and I believe the nucleus and the buy into the program really set the tone for the season.”
Perry Hall’s young core of players is led by juniors Da’Shaun and Dallas Conway. The brothers play both sides of the ball, and are currently starting at running back and quarterback respectively. Wide receiver and safety Corey Costner looks to build on his excellent performance in last week's game where he scored a rushing touchdown, caught a passing touchdown, and recorded an interception. Interior linebacker and tight end Daniel Moore was a defensive marvel last week, and looks to repeat his performance where he recorded an interception.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 1:00 at Generals Field in Towson.
Edit: Final score: Perry Hall-42, Towson-0
