Accused MD Cop Shooter's Lawyer Reveals Possible Motive: Report
BALTIMORE COUNTY - A Cockeysville man accused of shooting two Baltimore County law enforcement officers during a three-day manhunt in February was attempting "suicide by cop" when he pulled the trigger, according to a motion for bail filed by his lawyer, obtained by the Baltimore Banner.
David Linthicum, 24, faces three counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of first-degree assault, and carjacking after he was arrested following an eight-hour standoff in a wooded area of Harford County on Feb. 10. He allegedly shot a police officer dispatched to his home on Feb. 8 and a detective involved in the search for him a day later.
Linthicum's lawyers said he fired into a wall of his Cockeysville home in an attempt to have himself killed by police, according to the motion for bail obtained by the Banner. The lawyers also requested that Linthicum be released to home confinement from the Baltimore County Detention Center, where he was allegedly kept naked in a cell with only a piece of plastic for a blanket for 24 hours per day, with no access to recreation or reading materials.
"Housing someone who was suicidal to begin with, in a jail cell for twenty-three hours a day, with no access to exercise, recreation, or even reading materials, is tantamount to torture," his lawyers wrote in the motion, according to the Banner.
Linthicum had a history of drug use and was described by those who knew him as quiet and withdrawn, according to reports.
Meanwhile, Linthicum's brother called the ordeal "entirely preventable" and blamed family, teachers, and authorities for not helping him sooner, according to a separate report by the Banner.
"This was entirely preventable," said Martin Linthicum, who lives in Ireland. "He should have gotten help years ago. I brought this to (the family's) attention. Nothing was done."
Linthicum's case is ongoing, and it was unclear if his request for bail and home confinement will be granted.
My husband has Parkinson’s disease, he is about 63 years old it was diagnosed 2 years ago. It was getting more difficult to live for him, because of stiff muscles he couldn’t even move. Mirapex and levodopa medicines were given, but didn’t give much relief. He couldn’t eat food without choking. I thought this might be the last stage and the medications he was given did not help at all, so I started to do alot of research on Ayurveda treatments, I was introduced to Health Natural Centre and their Parkinson’s Ayurveda Protocol. He started on the Ayurveda Treatment last year, his symptoms gradually diminished including his vocal cord spasm, Muscle Weakness, Tremors and Difficulty with swallowing. Reach them at naturalherbscentre . c o m , he is getting active again since starting this treatment, he is able to walk again ( down the street and back ) he has also resumed exercising to strengthen muscles!! God Bless all PD Caregivers. Stay Strong, take small moments throughout the day to thank yourself, to love your self, and pray to whatever faith, star, spiritual force you believe in and ask for strength. I can personally vouch for these remedy but you would probably need to decide what works best for you.
