Baltimore County Police Giving Out Free Steering Wheel Locks This Weekend

BALTIMORE COUNTY - Baltimore County Police will give away free steering wheel locks to eligible Hyundai and Kia owners on Saturday during the Towsontown Spring Festival.

The locks will be available starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Baltimore County Police Department tent on Washington Avenue near the Armory. Inventory is limited, and the locks will only be available while supplies last.

According to officials, the locks will be available to Baltimore County residents whose Hyundai or Kia vehicle is eligible for an anti-theft software upgrade and requires a key to turn the ignition.

Interested residents must present a copy of their vehicle registration.

The following Hyundai and Kia models are eligible to receive locks:

  • 2018-2022 Accent
  • 2011-2022 Elantra
  • 2013-2020 Elantra GT
  • 2018-2022 Kona
  • 2013-2022 Santa Fe
  • 2013-2018 Santa Fe Sport
  • 2019 Santa Fe XL
  • 2011-2019 Sonata
  • 2011-2022 Tucson
  • 2012-2017, 2019-2021 Veloster
  • 2020-2021 Venue
  • 2013-2014 Genesis Coupe
  • 2020-2021 Palisade

Residents can also visit the Hyundaiexternal link or Kiaexternal link webpages and enter their vehicle's VIN to see if it is eligible for an anti-theft software upgrade.
