BALTIMORE COUNTY - The tragic and unexpected death of former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Ryan Mallett, who tragically drowned in Florida last week, has left his family and the Raven's flock grieving.

On June 27, emergency services rushed to the beach near 775 Gulf Shore Drive in Destin, FL, following reports that Mallett had submerged and was unresponsive. Despite all resuscitation efforts, Mallett was later declared dead at the hospital.

In a touching Facebook homage, Mallett's girlfriend, Madison Carter, reflected on the altruistic nature of the former Ravens QB. "You always placed others ahead of yourself," she shared after the 35-year-old sportsman's passing. "Your often repeated phrase, 'the world is full of good people,' encapsulates the essence of your optimistic spirit."

Hailing from Arkansas, Mallett showcased his football prowess at the University of Michigan and the University of Arkansas. He joined the NFL in the 2011 Draft's third round, first playing for the New England Patriots. In 2014, he moved to the Houston Texans before joining the Baltimore Ravens a year later. Mallett also contributed as a coach at Arkansas' White Hall School District.

Carter's poignant post further emphasized her loss: "The enormity of your absence is indescribable. You should know how deeply cherished you were - by me, your extraordinary family, friends, teammates, pupils, and countless others. I don't fathom how to cope with this absence. Yet, I am humbled to have been loved by you and to have reciprocated that love. Your presence in my life was transformational, and I am eternally indebted for the moments we shared. No timespan would have sufficed. I love you, Ryan. Please safeguard us. I eagerly anticipate our reunion."

The White Hall School District, where Mallett coached youth sports, expressed deep sorrow for the QB's passing.

"We are profoundly grieved by the passing of Coach Ryan Mallett. As a cherished coach and educator, he will be deeply missed. We extend our thoughts to his family, team, students, fellow coaching staff, and everyone at White Hall School District during this difficult time."
