The Arc Baltimore Honors Catherine Otterbein as Employee of the Year – Administration
The Arc Baltimore has named Catherine Otterbein Employee of the Year -- Administration. The award honors staff members for exemplary dedication to their profession and to The Arc.
As a holistic support manager (HSM), Otterbein is a go-to colleague with extensive expertise and knowledge of the people The Arc Baltimore supports and their families. She provides guidance to her team on how systems connect to the person and the plan, ensuring compliance is joined to quality services. Through her mentorship, the HSM team never loses sight of the fact that they are working with and for the needs of people.
“Catherine is person-centered and advocates for the smallest detail to be in each person’s plan if it means they will have access to what they want,” says Kathleen Durkin, The Arc Baltimore’s Chief Executive Officer. “In times of transition, she offers reassurance, encouragement, and guidance, whether it’s moving to a new, meaningful day program, exploring employment, or seeking a home with greater independence.”
The Employee of the Year – Administration Award was presented during The Arc Baltimore’s recent Annual Meeting and Awards Reception. The event honors individuals who have gone “above and beyond” in their service to the organization and the people with developmental disabilities who are recipients of its programs and services.
“The Annual Meeting is our opportunity to honor all those who have given so much of themselves to the mission of The Arc Baltimore, from community partners and volunteers to supported individuals, staff members, and other heroes of the organization,” explains Durkin. “It is their hard work that is at the very heart of our vision for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently, work in meaningful jobs, and enjoy friendships and activities in the community.”
As in past years, the 2023 Annual Meeting and Awards Reception featured a number of recognitions, as well as the election of The Arc Baltimore’s new board of directors and officers.
